From Mont-Joli to Chandler: Where to Stay and Eat on a Snowmobile Trip

Located along the St. Lawrence Estuary, Riôtel Matane offers cozy accommodations in a contemporary setting. This hotel has a variety of rooms and studios as well as a gym, indoor pool, whirlpool and sauna, all of which overlook the water. Riôtel Matane also houses the Cargo restaurant, which offers views of the St. Lawrence along with a lounge featuring a fireplace and couches, an ideal spot to enjoy a drink before or after dinner. Also located by the sea, Motel Nanook in Cap-Chat and Hôtel Motel Mont-St-Pierre in Mont-Saint-Pierre both offer packages that include a night in a unit, a 3-course dinner and a full breakfast.

Located in Grande-Vallée, Hôtel Motel Grande-Vallée is surrounded by a superb maritime environment that’s conducive to rest and relaxation. All units feature an understated decor with a few colourful touches and are embellished with thoughtful details. On site, the L’Aubergine restaurant offers family-style cuisine with a wide variety of dishes to choose from, including local fish and seafood. Located in the centre of Gaspé, near all services, Hôtel Baker offers cozy accommodations in a variety of rooms and suites. On-site amenities include a fitness room, massage therapy and a gift shop featuring local arts and crafts. The hotel’s restaurant, TÉTÛ Taverne Gaspésienne, features tasty regional cuisine, house cocktails and craft beers in a superb contemporary decor overlooking Gaspé Bay.

Thanks to record snowfalls, Murdochville is a popular destination for snowmobilers, who like to stay at Hôtel Copper. The 24-room motel-style establishment is renowned for offering a warm and friendly service and is a great place to meet other snowmobilers.

The hotel also offers a bar and a dining room serving home-style cuisine. The varied menu includes grilled meat and chicken dishes as well as soups and salads. The basement houses an impressive exhibition of some 60 vintage snowmobiles belonging to the hotel’s owners, brothers Jacques and Bernard Gauthier. Take advantage of the snowmobile package, which includes a night in the hotel, dinner and breakfast.

Please note that the trail between La Cache and Murdochville is closed for the 2024 season due to safety issues with two bridges that require major work.

Located in a quiet area at the heart of Chandler, Motel Fraser offers 30 spacious rooms with a focus on comfort and convenience. You can also enjoy the cozy atmosphere of the motel’s restaurant, Le Sieur de Pabos, which specializes in fish, seafood and steak. The restaurant offers takeout and boxed lunches, which you can take with you on your snowmobile journey. Finally, be sure to stop for a drink at the motel’s Kedo 84 bar.
