Can’t-Miss Winter Experiences in La Côte-de-Gaspé in Gaspésie

Once winter has arrived in Gaspésie, the Gaspé area becomes a winter wonderland for skiers, snowboarders and anyone who loves winter sports!

In the winter, snowshoeing and cross-country skiing take centre stage in Petite-Vallée with Évasion Nature Petite-Vallée, which also offers various types of accommodations suitable for solo travellers and groups. You can also rent snowshoes and cross-country skis on site.

Thanks to a partnership between Parks Canada and a team of volunteers, almost 35 km of cross-country ski trails are open to visitors in Forillon National Park this winter. If you want to stay near the trails, two yurts are available for rent in L’Anse-au-Griffon.

If you’re a backcountry ski enthusiast, Murdochville and Gaspé are the places to visit in this sector! The backcountry skiing capital of Gaspésie, Murdochville is home to a number of companies keen to make your stay more than memorable, including Chic-Chac and Le Couloir, which offer guide services, catskiing, heliskiing, skinning, equipment rentals and more. For ski enthusiasts who prefer to ski completely independently, Mont Pesaq awaits you just 10 minutes from the centre of Gaspé.

Offering groomed slopes and a ski lift, the Mont Béchervaise ski resort is an ideal place to go downhill skiing, snowboarding and snow tubing. If you’re less experienced, you can also take skiing and/or snowboarding lessons. Alpine touring is also available.

Located on Rue de la Reine in Gaspé, the oh les pains bakery offers a warm atmosphere and a wide variety of freshly baked products, including breads and pastries, as well as coffee, soups, sandwiches and more. Also in Gaspé, the O’Dwyer Distillery offers a fine selection of gins, whisky and other spirits made with local ingredients.

From January 23 to 26, 2025, women skiers and snowboarders who would like to try out backcountry skiing and snowboarding are invited to participate in the White Lips event organized by Chic-Chac, an outdoor company based in Murdochville.
