Description
The Théâtre de la Vieille Forge is a theatre and seaside café that was founded in 1983. Originally located in an old blacksmith shop on Long Point in Petite-Vallée, this cultural centre quickly became a mecca for lovers of Québécois song. A multidisciplinary venue specializing in song, the theatre also presents music, comedy, circus and dance shows during the summer season as well as programming for school audiences.
In August 2017, the theatre, which was also the headquarters of the Petite-Vallée Song Festival, burned to the ground. To rebuild this enchanting site where so many people had come together in celebration of song, the artisans of the Village en Chanson, under the presidency of Claudine Roy, a well-known local businesswoman, ran an extensive fundraising campaign. Within less than eight months, they had raised over $1.7 million thanks to the significant contributions of Quebecers from across the province as well as donations from Canadian companies.
The inauguration of the new Théâtre de la Vieille Forge will take place in June 2025, featuring a 450-seat performance hall, a 150-seat café-bistro, a boutique, and a warm, unique atmosphere ideal for artistic and human connections.
The theater’s summer season kicks off on June 4, 2025, with the inaugural show, La Marée du Forgeron, showcasing an impressive lineup of artists. Throughout the summer, performances from various disciplines will be held weekly, including the Petite-Vallée Song Festival, running from June 25 to July 5, 2025.
